Number 1 was by Canadian Percy Faith & his Orchestra and it entered the charts on the 10th March 1960 and got to the number 2 position and remained in the charts for a massive 30 weeks.
Jan says:This was popular when I first met my husband. We were on the beach for ages and didn't realise that it had been raining for ages. This is OUR song.

Number 2 is by The Charles Williams Orchestra. I have nothing on record about this man.....sorry.
Jan says: My mother used to have to play this every night on the piano or I wouldn't go to bed.

Number 3 is by Jud Strunk and again I have no records on this man.
Jan says: Just a wonderful song about a couple who will always love each other in life and in death. I heard it in the 70's and it made a big impression on me.

Number 4 is by Ian Drury. This track entered the charts on the 9th December 1978 and got to the number 1 position and remained in the charts for 15 weeks.
Jan says: We were on a train from Cairo to Luxor in Egypt with some new friends Charlie and Sue. Charlie was the drummer with Ian Drury. We were on the top bunk together listening to the new demo tape of this record which became a great hit for them. Unfortunately Charlie died 6 years ago and is greatly missed. He was a fantastic musician and friend.

Number 5 is by Damian from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The original version entered the charts on the 26th December 1987 and only reached number 51 and stayed for 6 weeks. It was then remixed and on the 19th August 1989 entered the charts again and went to number 7 and stayed in the charts for 13 weeks.
Jan says: I just love this show and all the music from it. I would love to dress up and go to see it one day. I have never managed to go yet.

The 6th choice is by Nat King Cole. He was born in 1917 and died in 1965. This track entered the charts on the 19th April 1957 and reached number 2 and stayed within for 20 weeks. 30 years later on the 12th December 1987 it entered the charts again and went to number 4 and stayed for 7 weeks.
Jan says: One of the first records I was ever bought by my first boyfriend, who at the time, I was madly in love with....Oh!!!!! What a long time ago that was.

Number 7 was by Edison Lighthouse. This came into the charts on the 24th January 1970 and went to the number 1 spot and stayed in the charts for 12 weeks.
Jan says: This record was out when I was pregnant with my daughter who is now 30. We used to go to a nightclub and whenever I went in the DJ always put this on for me and tapped his stomach. I was quite big but always danced when this came on.

Number 8 was by Julio Inglesias. Although this never made the charts this Spanish hearthrob had many others including a number 1 with "Begin the Beguine".
Jan says: I just love Julio. Anything by him sends shivers down my spine but this one in particular.

Number 9 is the Treorchy Male Voice Choir which are one of the best known choirs in Wales.
Jan says: This just makes me cry. Being Welsh I get very emotional with music and I used to sing in a choir when I was younger and we won the National Eisteddfod in Llangollen 1955.

Finally Robbie Williams. This entered the charts on the 13th December 1997 and reached number 4 and stayed for a total of 20 weeks.
Jan says: Last but not least I think Robbie Williams is one of the most talented of todays artists and this is just a most beautiful song.

JANS MUSICAL MEMORY

I think that has to be seeing The Beatles in concert in Blackpool in the 60's and queuing backstage for their autograph. I didn't get theirs but I did get Jet Harris, Tony Meehan and Susan Maugham. We then went back to a tent which was attached to our van because we couldn't afford proper accomodation and it poured down with rain and we got soaked as the tent leaked.
